Like most small businesses, Emerald Sky Financial was inspired by looking at an industry and deciding that it could be better; the need for career independence; and the appreciation of a work/life balance.
After hearing my friends talk about their accountants with a mix of fear and shame, I decided to grow a consulting and tax firm that would be welcoming, accessible, and above all, a friendly and non-judgmental space to discuss the endless possibilities for your business. I invest in my clients’ success by digging deep and having honest conversations, but I also want to hear what great restaurants you’ve tried lately and what you’re streaming on Netflix. It’s all about balance, right?
For over 20 years, I’ve worked with small businesses while also writing for a long roster of national publications. Yes...the right and left sides of my brain are firing on all cylinders! While I still write for pleasure — mostly postcards and letters sent with vintage but useable stamps — I’ve found great personal and professional satisfaction in supporting small business owners and I look forward to working with my clients for the long haul.
I’ve had the pleasure of assisting a variety of businesses including law firms, lobstermen, retail shops, new media agencies, landscapers, artists and craftspeople, food industry specialists, and state-legal cannabis businesses.
I support charities such as Gather, HAVEN, the Pope Memorial Humane Society, Maine Needs, Rockingham County Meals on Wheels, The Chase Home, The Joan G. Lovering Health Center and the Marijuana Policy Project (#legalize). I’m also a Trustee of the Portsmouth Public Library.
In 2021 I became an Enrolled Agent (EA) which is the highest certification awarded by the IRS.
In my spare time I visit art museums, bake treats to foist onto neighbors and friends, garden, read around 75 books a year, and hang out with my grown-up daughter and my two cats.
